{the low down} Things are about to get just a little bit crazier around here in 2014 <3

Taken at 34 weeks pregnant with Elsie <3 Well, we have some exciting news around here, our lives are going to be getting a little crazier as we go from a family of 4 to a family of 5 at the end of July! We're expecting!! Most of you know that my husband Scott and I are already proud parents of a 4.5 year old boy Tommy, and 20 month old little girl Elsie, but we will be adding one more (most likely the last) little Straka sometime towards the end of July 🙂 So that should hopefully explain why things have been a little quieter around here than normal and also why I choose to take the whole month of December off. I'm not going to lie I'm not one of those who just float thru pregnancy with no symptoms and just feel wonderful, ha quite the opposite actually. Pretty sure I had narcolepsy for about 3 weeks 😉 But as the first trimester is getting closer to the end I am starting to feel a tad better and really this pregnancy has felt just like the last 2 which resulted in 2 healthy (and HUGE) babies at the end, so no complaints here. So with having my own business I've already had to go into planning mode for when the baby comes, how much time I will take off, and how I want to go about scheduling. Well, luckily I will just be taking the whole month of August off, which is really one of the worst shooting months as who wants to bake outside in 100 degree weather for a session, generally not very many of you 🙂 I will then also take the first 2 weeks of September off and will get right back into the swing of things with a wedding! I will take the last 2 weeks of July off as well. So with going into next Fall with a new baby plus my other 2 littles, who will still be at home with me, minus the 3 days a week that Tommy goes to preschool for 3 hours, I will not be able to take on the load that I did last year. I had some big regrets after having Elsie in May 2012 and rushing back to my nursing job after just taking 6 weeks off and then having my first busy season as a photographer. I won't make that same mistake again. They grow too fast, before I know it I will have those free hours I have been dreaming about during the day to do all the things for my business that I have been wanting to do and will do. I'm going to force myself to slow down a bit this year and just really enjoy having these sweet babes home with me. This is hard for me, I am a busy body, and I love photography, and this business. I will continue to work towards my goals this year which involve taking my editing to a whole other level, and also to really start to shoot for myself-meaning bringing the visions that I have in mind to life. I want to continue to grow my client base but just as importantly I hope to see so many familiar cute smiling faces again this year in front of my camera! Which is really why I am writing this blog post because I want to make sure to give you tons of heads up, I hate turning away clients from being booked!! With being a planner I want to lay out how the year looks as far as theme sessions and weekends that I will be shooting. For the first half of the year, I will mostly just be shooting every 3rd weekend in Omaha/Fremont with more availability for Des Moines. If you took part in the BOGO special I would try to get your dates scheduled asap to ensure availability also remember October dates were excluded.
