A look back at 2015 | Family Photography
It is hard to believe another year, another season has wrapped up and here I am business planning for 2016. I will be honest 2015 from a business standpoint had a lot of lows. I found myself overextended and frustrated a lot of the year. But it was because of one of the highs of 2015 and that was tremendous growth in the Des Moines area. I was not ready for the volume that was booking here in Des Moines while I had yet to let go of my business in the Omaha area. It was tough. Two states, 2 big areas between Omaha and Des Moines and I found myself bogged down, beaten down and exhausted.
I knew I needed to step back and reevaluate what direction I wanted to take Lemon and Lace. So after much thought, pray and conversation, to be honest this conversation had been happening on and off for 4 years, I brought Holly Olson on as my associate photographer for the Omaha area. Holly is used to running her own business, she is a saint with children and I have no doubt that she is exactly what was needed. 2016 looks even better and brighter with her in it!
In 2015 I brought on another part of the Glitter and Glam events and that was the ballerinas!! I loved these dresses and sets and I have full plans to continue to use them at this years events. Another fun event was the Frozen theme sessions at the beginning of the year.
In 2015 I was honored to capture 10 weddings from May to October. I had such amazing couples!!
In 2015 I did over 120 Glitter and Glam Fairy sessions. WOW!! 2016 I have HUGE plans for these events. Between Holly and I there are already over 215 Glitter and Glam Fairies that we are going to have the pleasure of capturing. This is apart of my business that I will really be focusing on. These are not just about the timeless portraits but also the experience!!
In 2015 I was able to capture over 140 families. Family and child sessions are my sweet spot. I love watching a daddy give his little girl a kiss or a mother wrap her arms around her babies. I love the giggles and smiles. I love watching them grow both in number and kiddos in size. I love my lemon and lace families.
In 2015 the Lemon and Lace Lightroom Presets and JOY Presets were released. I have plans to get an editing video using my presets released this January. I am really proud of these sets and I truly hope other photographers find them helpful!
With looking at 2016, I am looking at a very quiet winter to replinish my mind and soul after the beating 2015 took 🙂 I have a set schedule that 2016 will be adhereing to with sessions only on select Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Holly and I will be staying away from summer sessions in June and July due to the volume of fairy sessions that we will be undertaking. For the Omaha area I will be taking sessions a few times a year with a 2-3 week heads up on when I’ll be back. Holly is ready with open arms for family and kiddo sessions starting this spring. 2016 is all about creating YOUR story timelessly at the same notion providing you with an amazing experience from first contact to the delivery of the final product. I am looking to push the envelope with new locations and the constant drive and desire to grow myself as an artist. Today booking has opened for 2016. I feel excited and focused. I am ready to CREATE YOUR STORY.
