2013 A Year in Review
Wow, can I just say I found myself getting really emotional going through photos from this last year! It was such an amazing year, I met so many new clients who I now consider friends, and was able to catch up with clients who have been with me from the beginning. Some big things from the year, in early spring I changed my business name from Katie Straka Photography to Lemon and Lace Studios. I wanted something that really fit what I was wanting to capture. It’s funny because I will have clients tell me that they feel like my name describes my work, which means the world to me because that is exactly what I was going for! Also in early spring I went to the Julie Paisley Photography real wedding workshop, this was my first jump into weddings. Leading to me starting to shoot weddings this year as well! I wanted to go in to weddings very very cautiously has it is such a HUGE step and something that I took very seriously. It has been quite the learning experience and I enjoy every opportunity for growth that I am given. I did a lot of theme sessions in 2013 including Valentine’s Day, Easter mini’s, mommy and me, Once Upon a Time, You are my greatest adventure and also a Fall/Christmas theme. I love love love doing theme sessions, they are tons of work but I love exploring another creative side with the set ups and I’ve already got theme sessions for 2014 lined up! Probably one of the biggest things that happened in 2013 my family and I moved to Des Moines this summer which has resulted in me opening up a studio in Fremont, NE and also to start expanding Lemon and Lace Studios to the Des Moines area as well. I am so incredibly thankful for being able to be apart of so many families lives and helping them to document such important times. I am looking forward to 2014, but wow 2013 is going to be hard to beat!! Some big goals for me this year are to perfect my editing skills even more, workshops, helping moms to learn their cameras, to blog a lot more, to start shooting more for myself, to push my creative boundaries and to continue to create lasting artwork for you and your family.
